About Gogeki-Sai
The Language Drama Festival <Gogeki-Sai> is a traditional event unique to Kobe City University of Foreign Studies, with a history spanning over 70 years.
Four theater groups—English and American Studies, Part II English and American Studies, Russian, and Chinese and Spanish—perform plays in their respective languages. Students handle everything from selecting the plays to designing costumes, lighting, and sound effects, building stage sets, and creating Japanese subtitles—a feature unique to this festival. In addition, faculty members assist with pronunciation coaching and other aspects of the production.
